Parents Day
For Mother's Day we were unexpectedly able to be with my parents! I'll call it Parents Day because a few weeks later we had planned to be with my dad for Father's day and thanks to an overactive job (boo) and a very brand new baby (not boo) we were stuck at home. So I'll retroactively call this Parents Day. Ken and I got up early and took the kids to RyanTaani's ward where we enjoyed the best speakers ever (Taani was one of them :)). My parents met up with us afterwards and we had lunch at RyanTaani's and then took a walk on the beach to check out the tide pools.
Some days just feel like a little bit of heaven on earth.
Happy Mother's Day, to the best mom on this beautiful earth. All the best parts of me remind me of you. So proud to still be spending years under your tutelage.
We found so many sea creatures.
Hattie is growing up right before my eyes.
A tide pool is pretty much Corban's dream come true. He is in his element.
My mom calls My dad and Corban the Master and his Apprentice. It couldn't be more true. So many times it feels like I'm raising a quirky young version of my father. Catching crabs.
At first they were afraid to touch the crabs.
Pan the camera up, "Hi Kyle."
Back down.
And then I told them I'd give them a quarter if they touched one. Guess who's interested now? Yep. Definitely my dad's grandson.
Once we conquered touching, it was time for dad to teach them how to hold them.
So I'll just echo my mom and title this photo, "Master and his Apprentice."
There was the neatest little cove area where the water comes up, but the brave hearted could climb up and around to get to another group of tide pools. I was 9 months pregnant, I wasn't about to go over there. Okay, I was a LITTLE tempted but Taani said no. Ken was already over there. Can your Grandpa do this?
Happy Father's day to the best Earthly Father I could ever have asked for.You provided to me a safe home, the gospel, a forever family and a backbone strong enough to carry me until I was ready to walk on my own. And now you are still hauling around my children. I love you.
The trek back.
The dads bring the kids back safely.
The best dad I could have chosen for my kids, hands down.
Some days really do feel like they are sliced right out of heaven and stuck on this earth to remind us of why we are here and why we do the things we do. Our friends used to have a sticker on their car that I've always wanted to copy. It said, simply, "Family is everything." And I would have to say, I agree.
