Last Saturday of Summer
This summer dripped by, long summer days. At the very same time, it zipped by (see? poetry) and I could not wrap my mind around the kids going back to school. Corban was going to start Kindergarten (first day of kinder always gives me a bit of a heart attack) and while Corban was ready ready ready to get out of my hair and into a schedule and I was feeling like it was time also, we were all feeling a bit of discomfort as we waited for it to happen. Avery was afraid she'd get a mean teacher, and we were all just a little nervous for the crazy fall schedule (with soccer and school and everything) to start. Ken ended up having the Saturday before school started off from work, so we took advantage and went to the water park in Fresno to burn off those end of summer nerves, and to stretch out our summer days to the very maximum.
It was a very, very, very good choice.
Contemplating the almond.
Switched to the animal crackers.
It was pretty wonderful to play and relax together at the same time.
This was just a week before Corban turned 2 months, so it was a real feat for him to be holding up his head like this. I was the proudest mama.
Oh my stinkin' heck. I love baby faces.
We laxxed by the end of the day and let the kids go down the lazy river by themselves. Can you believe our whiteness? And this was after an entire summer of swimming every single day with swim team. Great sunscreening, mama.
Definitely the most stressful part of the day was in the kids section of the water park-- it was a play structure and there were hundreds of kids running around and I could not keep track of anyone. It was so stressful and we did end up losing Penny. The kids and Ken came back to the table and I thought Penny was with them so I came back and we all realized we didn't have her and by the time we found her, she was scarred for life. She thought we didn't love her. It was pretty awful, I just couldn't find her. She recovered, but just now she saw me working on these photos and she said, "That was when I got lost." Therapy bills someday.
More lazy river. These kids are so lucky to have each other. We paid with blood sweat and so many tears in the beginning, but so many times I just say, "they are so lucky." They are together this year at school-- Avery in 1st and Corban in kinder and I love that they are there together.
We are the luckiest. Goodbye summer!
