Avery's 7th Birthday
The beautiful little lady turned 7 December 2013. I took not nearly enough pictures, but she got her honorary breakfast in bed.
And a birthday party! We promise friend birthday parties no more than every other year, and we've kind of gotten away with Disneyland and/or family parties for the past few years. But this year, Avery was on to us. She has been asking for months, so she and started planning around August for her cupcake birthday party. Due to a lack of a job, we kept it simple this year.
We gave the kids all cupcake shells (each shell held four cupcakes) and made them responsible to make their own chef-hats and specialty labels to put on their box of cupcakes. After they did that, we put away all of the markers and stickers, and we pulled out the cupcake decorating books. We studied a few strategies for cake decorating and then unveiled a table filled to the brim with icing bags of all different colors, candies of every shape and color, and the kids went crazy decorating their cupcakes. I like to think they learned something. Ha ha. Maybe not. But it was fun, and we'll definitely repeat the party in the future. It was waaay too fun for the kids, and everyone loved taking home their specialty cupcakes at the end of the day.
True to my style, it was oversimple but definitely enjoyable. Wish I had more pictures, but the truth is, we had a lot of kids there, and I had my hands full! Thanks to Ken for taking this shot at least, so I can tell Avery about it someday.
